I first met this call to action as a classroom teacher, and later as a middle school math instructional coach, in the Cambridge Public Schools. As a classroom teacher I taught all core content areas in a combined 5th/6th grade in a social justice and project based program.  Building trusting relationships with caregivers, advocating for needs in special education, and differentiating lessons, the work toward equity and excellence was a daily practice.

As a math instructional coach in newly formed middle schools in Cambridge, I brought new teaching teams together, analyzed school and district data, drafted school improvement plans, and lead district wide professional development. Working hand in hand with administrators, I cultivated relationships with staff to improve instruction and student achievement. My experiences grounded my understanding of the intersection of practice and policy from a student centered lens.

Community Advocate & Volunteer

As a parent raising two children in Arlington, I found more opportunities for action. I currently serve on Town Meeting and the Math Pathways Taskforce. I heard how we can improve our culture of belonging as a contributor of the Town’s Equity Audit. I invested in the future of our schools while collaborating with neighbors, teachers, students, and administrators as part of the Strategic Vision and Planning Team.

To better serve our community, I attended Arlington’s Civic Academy, where I learned from and engaged with our town's leaders. As President of our Brackett PTO, I ensure our students receive educational enrichments, our staff are equipped with supplemental supplies, and our community is connected and informed.

Aware of the present challenges and opportunities that exist in Arlington, I knocked on doors to garner support of our last budget override as a Precinct Captain. I am doing the same this year as a member of the Steering Committee & Precinct Captain for our Vote Yes to Keep Arlington Strong campaign. The result of this year's override will have critical consequences for Arlington. Being fiscally responsible is a necessity, and so is investing in the continued strength and excellence of our amazing community.

The call to action to serve on the School Committee is a continuation my dedication to public education and Arlington.
