Priorities

Experienced and prepared, I am committed to ensuring the success of Arlington's students and schools.

Transparent Communication

All stakeholders deserve to be informed and engaged in making policy.

I believe in the importance of all stakeholders understanding of what is happening in our schools.  Often presentations about the work of the School Committee can be coded in “edu-speak.”

My experience as an educator allows me to effectively translate “edu-speak” for everyone. All members of our community deserve to have access and to understand what decisions are being made.

I will work with other School Committee members to find creative ways to keep all community members meaningfully informed and engaged.

Support Talented Staff

Arlington must recruit, support, and retain diverse & talented teachers & staff.

Arlington is lucky to have an incredibly talented and committed staff.  Our students deserve diverse, highly skilled, and dynamic teachers and administrators. It is critical to support competitive salaries to attract and retain staff that are equipped to meet the needs of our culturally and linguistically diverse community.

I served as a Precinct Captain for the successful Invest in Arlington override campaign, which allowed Arlington Public Schools to make significant improvements to both teacher and paraprofessional salaries.

I’m doing the same for this year’s override campaign Vote Yes to Keep Arlington Strong. Without this critical budget override, our schools will face significant cuts.

Our goal to keep Arlington schools performing competiviely for our staff and our students!

Data Driven Decisions

Decisions must be grounded in data. Data must be analyzed with curiosity.

Educational data of all kinds will be used to make critical decisions during this next year on School Committee, especially if the override does not pass. Understanding this data right away will be crucial to being an effective member.

During my years as an teacher and math coach, I evaluated and critically synthesized school and district data to differentiate lessons and improve instruction. As a member of the Math Pathways Taskforce and Town Meeting Member, I am already examining district and town data as well.

I come prepared with insight and curiosity about the educational data we use in Arlington.

Differentiated Instruction & Special Education

Every student in Arlington deserves to be supported and challenged.

It is critical to support Special Education staff and resourcing, while strengthening opportunities for students to choose challenging coursework.

As a member of the Math Pathways Taskforce, I am currently engaged in the critical work of making recommendations that are both instructionally impactful for all learners and fiscally feasible for our district.

I bring my background as a math instructional coach and classroom educator to this work. In the classroom I was a fierce advocate for my students, working with families and special educators to find pathways for support and implement successful education plans. I built meaningful relationships with my students and their families, they trusted me and relied on me to meet their needs.

I will do the same for Arlington.
